Monster Hunter Outlanders Hunt modes
Free Hunt, Hunt Requests, Trials, Arena, and Event Center — how Aesoland actually queues a fight.
Monster Hunter Outlanders does not put every large monster on a village quest board. It splits the island into several hunt types, then parks limited elders in an Event Center. This page is the map of those queues. The clip below is live mobile footage, not a World montage.
Free Hunt
Roam Aesoland, pick a monster that is standing on the road, fight it. Gathering nodes sit on the same geography. DualShockers’ CBT notes treated roaming hunts as ungated.
Structured Free Hunt is the efficient part farm. That is where the energy cap shows up — the mobile convention the review does not pretend is popular. If you are new, roam. If you need a specific Radiant part, spend energy. If you are empty, restore a watchtower instead of refreshing Discord.
Hunt Requests
Targeted hunts with a brief: a species, a locale, a reward. Think “I need this tail,” not “whatever is in Giantwood.” Bring a kit from the hunt planner. Four-player co-op is how ugly requests actually finish.
Publisher copy and CBT UI both use this name. If launch relabels it, the job stays: a requested monster, not a random roam.
Trials
Skill checks. Shorter than a full investigation, meaner than a first Rathalos. Use Trials to learn Classic Mode without burning a night of energy on a cart. If a Trial is teaching Helm Breaker, your overlay is the test — read controls.
Arena
Instanced, repeatable, spectator-friendly. Hammer’s official kit arrived in CBT 3, and some testers said Arena was still filling in around that add. Do not treat CBT Arena as the launch ranked ladder. Do treat it as the place you practice a weapon without walking the overworld.
If you queued Hammer here and the instance felt unfinished, that is a test note, not a reason to skip the weapon.
Event Center
Limited, dated, four-player. CBT 3’s English operations post on 28 August 2026 opened Nergigante Approaches: Event Center path, squad of four, Omens to raise difficulty, points for rewards, start 28 August 2026 4:00 UTC.
That is not Free Hunt. That is not a roaming Nergigante on the beach. Event Center is where flagship-adjacent elders and seasonal challenges live during a test. Data wipes. Read CBT history before you farm a title you will lose.
The same drop bundled Hunt Sprint (three-day login, Featured Contract x30, Rutacoin, titles), extra field Visages from large monsters, and Freya’s Crimson Authority banner. Event Center is the hunt half of that package.
How to pick a queue
- Learning the island: roam, then a standard Rathalos Free Hunt. Getting started.
- Farming a part: structured Free Hunt or a Hunt Request. Energy is the gate.
- Learning a weapon: Trials or Arena. Hammer and Long Sword both belong here before you take them into Omens.
- Limited elders: Event Center. Bring a real squad.
Adventure Mode works in every queue. It does not make Event Center Omens kind.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers for hunters landing on Aesoland.
What hunt modes does Monster Hunter Outlanders have?
Public CBT and publisher copy name Free Hunt, Hunt Requests, Trials, Arena, and Event Center. Exact launch labels can still move.
Where does the energy cap show up?
Structured Free Hunt is the loop testers tied to the energy meter. Roaming overworld hunts were described as ungated.
What is Event Center?
Limited challenges. CBT 3 put Nergigante Approaches there: four-player squads, Omens difficulty, points for rewards.
Is Arena complete in CBT 3?
Hammer arrived in CBT 3 and some testers reported Arena as still filling in. Treat Arena as real, not as a finished ranked ladder.
Is Isolesia a different map?
No. Garena and some Korean pages say Isolesia. The English site says Aesoland. Same continent, different publisher copy.
