An elder dragon newly discovered on Aesoland. It hardens the radiant particles that coat its body into armor, using them for both offense and defense. It can also draw in radiant particles from its surroundings to unleash powerful attacks.
The cinematic language around the trailer is consistent with that paragraph. Ruger Aidal appears wreathed in golden, iridescent light. It gathers into a bright orb — a “second sun” — then releases a heat wave that leaves Adventurers scorched on the ground. When they look up, it is gone.
Japanese coverage (GameWith, gamescom recaps) uses ルガ・エアルダ. Some Southeast Asian outlets write Rugar. If you are searching, try all three. The wiki standard is Ruger Aidal.
Why it matters beyond a cool silhouette
Capcom flagships teach the game. Rathalos taught you the sky. Nergigante taught you the spike break. Ruger Aidal is being positioned as the source myth for Radiantite’s visible mutations. Garena’s gamescom copy says the glow transforms other monsters on the island into Radiant species. That is why the Radiant species page exists as a sibling, not a footnote.
