Three Monster Hunter Outlanders tests, from an NDA weekend to a gamescom-adjacent CBT 3.
Monster Hunter Outlanders has used closed betas the way a live-service hunt should: small, then wider, then a wipe. This page is the history so you can date every leaked kit. The recruitment trailer below is CBT 3’s public face.
CBT 1 — November 2025
When: 27 November through 4 December 2025.
Who: selected players in Japan, Canada, and the United States.
What we learned: the game was real, touch combat was the argument, and the first Adventurer set (Raya, Madelyn, Midori, Ouyang Varen, Pepper) entered the public conversation. NDA was tighter. Most “I played it” essays you want are not from this week.
Recruitment ran off the official site around TGS 2025. If you missed it, you missed it.
CBT 2 — April 2026
When: live from 29 April 2026 (start times listed as 28 April 19:00 PDT / 29 April 04:00 CEST in the launch note).
Who: a wider net — Mainland China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom in the launch copy.
Languages in the test: English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, German, Spanish (LATAM).
NDA: lifted. This is why DualShockers, IGN, and Pocket Tactics could describe systems.
CBT 2 added or showcased Pyro, more Radiant talk, Giantwood and Searing Plains, and the three-class language (Assault, Disruptor, Support) in official posts. Hardware floors (Snapdragon 845 / iPhone XR) attached to this test on system requirements.
CBT 3 — August 2026
Recruitment: 2 July 12:00 – 24 July 06:59 UTC.
Start: 7 August 2026, 02:00 UTC.
Platforms: Android / iOS.
Copy: no IAP, data wipe.
Regions announced: Japan, United States, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Philippines.
CBT 3 is the test that overlapped gamescom and the Ruger Aidal trailer. On 28 August 2026 the English operations post bundled four live drops:
- Hunt Sprint — three-day login: Featured Contract x30, Rutacoin, titles, avatar frame.
- Extra field Visages from large monsters.
- Nergigante Approaches — Event Center, four-player, Omens difficulty, points for rewards, start 28 August 2026 4:00 UTC. Nergigante.
- Featured Recruitment Crimson Authority for SSR Freya (Fire Disruptor Great Sword).
Hammer’s official overview also belongs to this test window (move-while-charge, Mighty Charge, Spinning Bludgeon). Some testers reported Arena as still filling in. Treat event names as test-limited. Data wipes.

How to date a rumor
- Kit from before April 2026: maybe CBT 1, maybe trailer.
- Kit with class language and Pyro: CBT 2 or later.
- Flagship Elder Dragon cinematic: 26 August 2026 onward.
The review is written from public CBT 2/3 reporting, not from a leaked APK. If a Discord screenshot disagrees with official English posts, the posts win.

Can I still join a closed beta?
CBT 3 recruitment ran 2–24 July 2026 with a 7 August start. There is no open public signup on this page. Watch official accounts for any later test.
Does CBT progress carry over?
Official CBT 3 copy said no in-app purchases and all data wiped after the test. Assume wipe unless a future test says otherwise.
Which CBT lifted the NDA?
CBT 2 (April 2026) was the first widely described as NDA-up. That is why most public Adventurer kits date from then.
