Monster Hunter Outlanders Weapon tier list
Which Monster Hunter Outlanders weapons were carrying hunts in CBT 3 — and which ones only feel bad because of the overlay.
Weapon tiers in Monster Hunter Outlanders are mobile tiers. A Long Sword god on Rise can look lost on a 6-inch screen. A Lance player who never clipped on console can look like a genius because the shield still works. This page ranks the seven confirmed weapons for four-player CBT hunts in Classic Mode. Adventurer names live on the Adventurer tier list.
S
Lance. Attack and block, dash, spiral thrust, two named hunters (Ouyang Varen, Arkaya). It is the weapon that makes Diablos possible and that survives fat-finger frames. If you can only main one melee on a train, main this.
Dual Blades. Demon Mode survived. The dash steps survived. Two Disruptor Adventurers exist, which means the weapon also has a party job. Elemental sandpaper plus interrupt pressure is S on short hunts.
A
Great Sword. Charge identity is intact, perfect evade keeps charge, Pyro exists. It is A instead of S because a mistimed hold is a full punish on a small display. When it hits, it still ends the hunt.
Bow. Two jobs (Support Madelyn, Assault Luka), coatings, lock-on to parts. A because it demands tracking. S in the air. B in a cave if you cannot aim.
Heavy Bowgun. Pepper’s aerial kit and interrupt Ultimate are unique. Reload-on-perfect-guard is very Outlanders. A because planting a turret on a phone while a monster turns is still awkward. Worth the awkward.
B
Long Sword. Spirit Gauge and counters are real. Midori is real. The weapon is B-to-A depending on your overlay. Default button layouts eat Foresight. Customize first — controls — then mentally promote it.
Hammer. Official, blunt, stun windows, no named Adventurer yet. B because it is new in the public conversation and because two people will still fight you for the head. Play it on the Fated Adventurer anyway; see the Hammer page.
What this list is not
It is not a DPS spreadsheet. CBT 3 did not give the public a clean parser. KINGOFCHARMANDERS’ all-weapon showcase is a moveset tour, not a laboratory. If your clan has logs, use those and ignore letters.
It is not permission to bench a weapon you like. The armory is still growing. A Switch Axe banner would rewrite this page in an afternoon.
For monster-specific picks, skip letters and use hunt builds or the planner.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers for hunters landing on Aesoland.
Is Lance overpowered?
Lance is the most phone-stable melee because guard plus thrust does not need perfect analog. That reads as S on mobile, not as a console Smash argument.
Why is Long Sword not S?
The weapon is fine. The counter is easy to miss on a default overlay. Ranked as A until you customize controls.
Where is Light Bowgun?
Not confirmed. This list only ranks the seven published types.
Does Adventure Mode change tiers?
Yes. Adventure Mode flattens skill expression. Differences shrink. Rankings assume Classic.
Should I switch weapons every hunt?
The Fated Adventurer can. Named Adventurers cannot. Rank the weapon you can actually queue.
