Long Sword — Monster Hunter Outlanders

Long Sword is the veteran comfort pick and the overlay stress test. The official overview is fifty-four seconds. This page is the written version so you do not hunt for Helm Breaker on a right stick that does not exist.

What survived the port

Spirit Gauge. Spirit slash chains. Counters that bump the gauge. A spender in the Helm Breaker family mapped to a cooldown or skill slot. Footage from the melee hub and this overview agree: white into yellow into red is still the toy.

Midori is Assault Long Sword with the blade in a shamisen. She evades, she counters, some skills fill Spirit faster. She is not Support. Do not put her on cart duty because the dress is green.

The Fated Adventurer can take the same weapon without her Adventurer layer. That is the roster rule.

Mobile mapping

Classic Mode: big basic-attack cluster for the bread-and-butter chain, a reachable skill for the counter, another for spirit combo, burst for the big spend. If the counter is a corner tap, you will never counter. Controls first.

Adventure Mode will pick “the right attack.” Fine on a train. Not fine if you queued to land Foresight. Adventure vs Classic.

When to bring it

  • Tails (Rathian line). Midori already wants that job.
  • Grounded heads after a KO. Pair with Hammer.
  • Not as your only melee on a Radiant Rathalos that lives in the air. Bring Luka or Heavy Bowgun in the party.

The weapon tier list parks Long Sword at B-to-A depending on overlay. That is a phone ranking, not a Rise ranking.

Melee hub for Great Sword, Dual Blades, and Lance. Hammer if you want stun instead of Spirit. Midori is the named Assault. Hunt modes is where you practice this overlay before Event Center Omens.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers for hunters landing on Aesoland.

Is Long Sword in Monster Hunter Outlanders?

Yes. Official Weapon Overview exists, and Midori is the named Assault Long Sword Adventurer.

Where is Foresight Slash?

On a Classic Mode skill button, not on a hidden analog flick. If you cannot find it, enlarge the overlay.

Does Spirit Gauge still go white-yellow-red?

Footage and overviews show the level system surviving. Midori has skills that fill it faster.

Should beginners main Long Sword?

Only after [controls](/guides/controls/) are customized. Default layouts eat the counter. Lance or Dual Blades fail more honestly.

Is Midori required?

No. The Fated Adventurer can take Long Sword. Midori is the named kit with extra Spirit acceleration.
