Monster Hunter Outlanders Heavy Bowgun
Artillery on a phone: special ammo, perfect-guard reloads, and Pepper as the named Disruptor.
Heavy Bowgun is how Monster Hunter Outlanders puts artillery on a six-inch screen without asking you to claw a second analog. The official overview is short. This page is the written kit so you do not hunt for special ammo on a hidden combo that does not exist.
What survived the port
Highest firepower in the historical ranged set. Limited special ammo that regenerates or returns on shots. Perfect guards that can instantly reload. Perfect evades that buy mobility or a counter. A Wyvernheart-style barrage when you dump into a weak spot.
That is still a stance weapon. You plant. You shoot. You relocate with the air skill. If you try to Dual-Blades-strafe with Heavy Bowgun, you will eat every roar. Pair it with a Lance so someone else holds the face.
Pepper is Disruptor, not Assault artillery
Pepper is the named Heavy Bowgun: powerful shots, skills that send her airborne, rapid midair fire, an Ultimate that interrupts and slows. That last clause is why she sits in Disruptor, not Assault. The class triangle cares about the interrupt, not the splash art of a cannon.
The Fated Adventurer can take the same weapon without her Adventurer layer. Decide the class before the ammo. Assault Heavy Bowgun without Pepper’s interrupt is still valid; it is not a second Pepper.
Play Heavy Bowgun if you can lock a part and hold still. The controls lock-on is closer to a body-part Focus than to Monster Hunter Now. Use it. Adventure Mode will pick “the right shot.” Fine on a train. Not fine if you queued to land the barrage.
When to bring it
- Flyers. Radiant Rathalos lives in the air; Pepper’s aerial fire is the answer Dual Blades do not have.
- Interrupt windows. Nergigante and anything that charges a heat wave want a Disruptor that is not another blade.
- Parties that already have a Lance. Comp 3 on team compositions is that idea in a table.
When not to:
- Horn exams. Radiant Diablos wants the shield first; Heavy Bowgun is the second seat, not the only seat.
- Tiny phones in a moving train if you have never touched a bowgun. Use Adventure Mode or a Lance until the overlay is yours.
Ammo and hunt energy both gate how long you can stay in a dedicated Free Hunt. Do not dump special ammo on a flashing tail unless the Radiant guide said that tail is the hunt.
