Monster Hunter Outlanders weapons
Seven confirmed weapon types, mobile skill buttons, and which Adventurer actually owns each kit.
Weapon identity is the hill Monster Hunter Outlanders has to hold. TiMi kept Great Sword charges, Long Sword Spirit, Dual Blades Demon Mode, Lance guards, Bow coatings, and Heavy Bowgun artillery, then mapped the awkward inputs to skill buttons instead of clawing a phone like a 3DS. This hub is the index. Melee, ranged, Long Sword, Heavy Bowgun, and Hammer are the breakdowns.
Confirmed weapons and owners
| Weapon | Named Adventurers | Mode notes |
|---|---|---|
| Great Sword | Pyro (Assault), Freya (Disruptor) | Charge levels, perfect evade keeps charge, skill-switch while charging. |
| Long Sword | Midori | Spirit Gauge white-yellow-red, counters, shamisen draw. Overview. |
| Dual Blades | Raya, Keres | Demon Mode, Demon Gauge, Archdemon, dash steps. |
| Lance | Ouyang Varen, Arkaya | Guard, Impetus or Resolve, dash and spiral thrust. |
| Bow | Madelyn, Luka | Coatings, Spores versus Thunder, mobility. |
| Heavy Bowgun | Pepper | Special ammo, Wyvernheart-style barrage, aerial fire. Overview. |
| Hammer | None named yet | CBT 3 add: move-while-charge, Mighty Charge, Spinning Bludgeon, stun head. Overview. |
The Fated Adventurer can take any row. That is the roster rule that matters more than any banner.
How mobile mapping works
Official overviews and the Adventurer’s Digest are consistent. There is a large basic attack control for the bread-and-butter chain, smaller skill buttons for signature moves (Foresight, Tackle, Spirit Slash), and cooldown bursts for the big spenders. Classic Mode is that full overlay. Adventure Mode reduces it to attack, evade, and burst and picks the “right” attack for you.
If you cannot find Helm Breaker, you are looking for a skill button, not a hidden analog combo. The controls page is the overlay diagram in words.
How to choose without a tier list
- Pick the fantasy you already have. Great Sword mains should not “try Bow because meta.”
- Pick a class seat the party needs. Bow is Assault on Luka and Support on Madelyn. Lance is Assault or Support depending on the hunter. Read classes.
- Pick a monster. Horns want Lance or Hammer. Air wants Bow or HBG. Poison tails want Madelyn’s Bow. Use the hunt planner.
- Then peek at the weapon tier list to see what CBT 3 looked like, not to obey it.
Future weapons
TiMi has said, more than once, that other series weapons are coming and that new types are possible. Hammer’s overview arriving after the original six is the proof that the armory is not frozen. Do not skip Hammer because your favorite YouTuber filmed CBT 1. Do not hoard resources for Switch Axe that has no Adventurer yet.
When a seventh-plus weapon ships with an Adventurer, it will get a row here and a tier list note. Until then, master one Classic kit well enough that Radiant hunts do not force you back into Adventure Mode.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers for hunters landing on Aesoland.
How many weapons are in Monster Hunter Outlanders?
Seven are confirmed with official overviews or site listings: Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Blades, Lance, Bow, Heavy Bowgun, and Hammer. More are promised.
Can every Adventurer use every weapon?
Only the Fated Adventurer can swap freely. Named Adventurers are locked to one weapon.
Is there Switch Axe or Charge Blade?
Not in the confirmed launch set. Developers have said they are working on types not yet in the game, including Adventurers who will wield them.
Should I play Classic or Adventure Mode?
Classic maps signature moves to skill buttons. Adventure collapses combat to attack, evade, and burst. Serious hunters should graduate to Classic; the comparison page explains when.
Which weapon is best?
The one you can execute on a phone. The weapon tier list ranks CBT performance; your hands rank the rest.
