How to Hunt Radiant Species in Monster Hunter Outlanders

Radiant species are the first Monster Hunter Outlanders hunt that will embarrass a World veteran. They share a skeleton with a monster you know and then throw Radiantite, extra venom, or a frenzy you did not budget. This is the how-to-beat page. The dossier is Radiant species. CBT 3’s trailer is the tone poem.

Rule 0 — do not learn on the expensive hunt

Roam the map and fight the base version until the tell is boring. Then spend energy on the Radiant. Dedicated hunts are the efficient farm and the gated one. Wasting a refill on a first look is how mobile loops feel cruel.

Rule 1 — name the mutation

RadiantThe new homework
Kulu-Ya-KuExcavated Radiantite used as a weapon
AnjanathJaw-hurled Radiantite plus heavier flame
RathianExtra inject methods, more mobility
DiablosHorns that erase rock, uglier charges
RathalosNear-molten breath, sovereign air time

If you cannot say the homework in one clause, you are not ready. Open the planner and pick that row.

Rule 2 — bring the class the homework asks for

  • Projectiles and charges: Lance Assault or Support (Ouyang Varen, Arkaya).
  • Poison: Madelyn plus Trillan.
  • Air: Luka or Pepper.
  • Frenzy: Pepper’s interrupt, or Dual Blades pressure from Raya or Keres.
  • Always: one Support seat in four-player. See co-op.

Four Pyros is a meme that dies here.

Rule 3 — lock the part that changed

Controls lock-on exists so you can glue a Great Sword to a jaw instead of a shin. Radiant Kulu’s rock, Anjanath’s mouth, Rathian’s glands, Diablos’s horns. Center-mass lock is how you farm the wrong breaks.

Rule 4 — frenzy is a Disruptor call

Official copy says Radiants can enter a frenzied state at the height of battle. That is not a pretty shader. That is the moment someone has to interrupt or the party eats a wipe combo. If nobody in your group can explain their interrupt button, switch one hunter to Pepper or Dual Blades before you queue.

Rule 5 — carts are shorter hunts

Sub-five-minute hunts mean two carts is the hunt. Support is not a flavor pick. Trillan is not optional in solo. Adventure Mode will not drink the potion for you.

A first Radiant route

  1. Beat standard Kulu or equivalent.
  2. Queue Radiant Kulu with Raya and Rutaco.
  3. Beat standard Rathian.
  4. Queue Pink then Radiant Rathian with Madelyn.
  5. Only then queue Radiant Rathalos with a Bow in the party.

Skip the route and go straight to the king if you enjoy repairing carts. For the flagship after that, read Ruger Aidal as a separate exam, not as “Radiant but gold.”

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers for hunters landing on Aesoland.

Why did I cart on Radiant Rathalos when I can beat Rathalos?

The mutation changes aggression, projectiles, and frenzy. Your old script is missing a page.

Should I spend energy learning a Radiant?

No. Learn the base species in the overworld, then spend gated hunts on the mutation.

What class beats Radiants?

All three. Frenzy wants Disruptor. Carts want Support. Openings still want Assault.

Is lock-on enough?

Lock the part that changed, then still move. Lock-on is not i-frames.

Which Radiant first?

Radiant Kulu-Ya-Ku. Then Anjanath or Rathian. Rathalos last among the common set.
